My Uganda trekking adventure went completely wrong.
This was supposed to be a legendary hike through the Rwenzori Mountains — also known as the “Mountains of the Moon.” But between a painful leg injury, a major misjudgment of the route length, and a sketchy motorcycle ride out… things quickly spiraled out of control.
The day started off full of promise. We trekked through beautiful rainforest trails with our guide, aiming to reach a scenic peak. But I misinterpreted how long it would take — and we were nowhere near prepared for what came next. Add in a cramp that knocked me out mid-hike and you’ve got one chaotic adventure deep in the Ugandan wilderness.
To top it all off, we got in and out of this trek on the back of a street bike — not a dirtbike — bouncing over rocks and sliding through mud. Not exactly the ending we imagined.
